Construction of the National College for Nuclear (NCfN) Southern Hub in Somerset (ncfn.ac.uk ) has reached a key milestone, with a ceremony held to mark the official topping out of the new building.
The new facility at Bridgwater & Taunton College’s Cannington Campus will act as a hub for nuclear training — in activities ranging from new build to decommissioning — and will support both the civil and defence nuclear industries; it is expected to play a key role in providing the training for Hinkley Point C workers.
The £10.5 million NCfN Southern Hub is due to welcome its first students in January 2018.
At the official topping out ceremony, Steve Rosewell, operational director for construction company Midas Group, was joined by Andy Berry, the new principal (and chief executive) of Bridgwater and Taunton College.
