The Bicester-based CAD/CAM company Open Mind Technologies (
www.openmind-tech.com) and the Sheffield-based tooling company WNT (UK) Ltd (
www.wnt.com) will be hosting a series of five-axis technical presentations at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) with Boeing on 26 and 27 September.
The two companies will introduce manufacturers to new methodologies and strategies that will show how the combination of the latest CAM software and tooling developments can achieve significant improvements in both material removal rates and tool life of up to 90%.
All this can be achieved while reducing the load on the machine spindle and improving surface finishes considerably. Following a theoretical seminar programme, a Hermle C52 5-axis machining centre tooled by WNT and programmed with hyperMILL will deliver practical examples.
The Rotherham event will also provide an opportunity for manufacturers to discover the latest innovations in Open Mind’s 2018.1 Version of hyperMILL. WNT will also be using the event to premiere a new tooling line that the company says will set the industry benchmark in HPC 5-axis machining.
