Alloy Wire International (AWI) (
www.alloywire.com), a leading supplier of high-performance alloys, has won a number of new contracts after a spike in demand for its Emergency Manufacturing Service (EMS).
The company, which is 100% employee-owned, has completed 12% more EMS orders in the first half of this year than it did in the whole of 2016.
It has received urgent orders from customers in the aerospace, nuclear and oil and gas industries, all looking to receive their wire made to specification in three to five days.
Operations director Ian Fitzgerald said: “Our EMS has been called upon quite often over the past 17 years. but never at the rate we are seeing now.
A lot of customers have found that a critical situation has arisen, such as an oil platform urgently needing components to resume production, necessitating the rapid delivery of a nickel alloy wire.
“We have a proven system in place that enables us to quote for the job, manufacture the wire and have it with them very quickly.”
