Profits at the UK arm of Pirelli (
www.pirelli.com), the tyre-manufacturing giant, have increased by 129%, with revenues edging towards £350 million.
The firm, which is headquartered in Burton-on-Trent and has a factory in Carlisle, reported pre-tax profits of £15.8 million in the year to 31 December 2016, up from £6.9 million a year earlier, while its turnover rose by 9%, from £320.8 million to £349.8 million.
