NDT Midlands aims to diversify into aerospace

NDT Midlands aims to diversify into aerospaceWillenhall-based NDT Midlands (www.ndtmidlands.co.uk) has invested £120,000 in a new X-ray facility and a further £18,000 in the latest Bruker positive material identification (PMI) gun, as it aims to diversify into the aerospace sector.

The company provides a non-destructive testing service to a number of industry sectors, including oil/petrochemical, power and energy, automotive, construction and defence.

Managing director Stewart Dudwell said: “We have invested in a new X-ray facility, as we already do a lot of dye penetrant testing that is applicable to the aerospace market.

“We are creating a ‘one-stop shop’ for potential customers, and we expect that these new capabilities will perfectly complement our existing set-up.

“For example, the Bruker PMI gun will help us to trouble-shoot if there is a mix in the material that we are testing. We can also verify the correct material on anything purchased abroad.”

Having already achieved ISO 9001 and AS9100 approval, NDT is now pursuing NADCAP accreditation to underpin its move into the aerospace sector.
