Castleford-based Ficep UK Ltd (
www.ficep.co.uk) has released its Tipo G31 — a multi-operation CNC machining centre for heavy steel plate.
This can drill, mill, mark, scribe, tap and chamfer steel plates up to 100mm thick x 3,100mm wide for sectors like agri-culture, earthmoving and mining.
It can be equipped with dual spindles featuring an independent sub-axis that increases productivity over single-spindle lines by about 40%.
Up to 24 tools can be made available for each spindle. The Tipo G31 features a double-bridge structure with the spindle or spindles located within the two bridges to maximise spindle guidance and rigidity.
A hold-down clamp secures the plate, avoiding any vibrations that could compromise part quality, accuracy or tool life.
Once the material clamp is engaged, the sub-axis of the Tipo G31 performs all operations within the clamping window, thereby eliminating the need to clamp, unclamp and reposition the material in the length direction for each spindle’s operation.
If required, the Tipo G31 can be equipped with two plasma torches (straight or bevel) and up to three oxy-cutting torches. There is also an option to extend both the in-feed and out-feed tables to process plates up to 12.2m long (6.1m is the standard maximum length).
