Derby-based Pentaxia (
www.pentaxia.com), an advanced composites manufacturer, has purchased a former Rolls-Royce manufacturing site. The family-run company will move in the new year to the six-acre site, which has 70,000ft2 of manufacturing space. A six-month programme to refurbish and upgrade the site will begin immediately, and a £1 million investment will include new manufacturing equipment to double the firm’s existing production capacity. The former Rolls- Royce site will become a centre of innovation and a composites hub for the Midlands.
Pentaxia’s managing director, Stephen Ollier, said: “This marks a big step forward in our company’s nine-year history. We’ve seen a rapid increase in demand for lightweight high-performance components from our ‘blue chip’ customers in the aerospace, motor-sport and luxury automotive markets. We have grown by more than 60% in the past 12 months, and to maintain that kind of growth we need a lot more space.”
