Cutting fluid suits high-flow grinding applicationAlthough the latest addition to the range of metal-working fluids from Needham Market-based Master Fluid Solutions is not unique, it demonstrates how the company is now achieving greater bio-stability from its formaldehyde donor- and boron-free technology.

Trim C274 has been formulated to be used where high coolant velocities or volumes are necessary to help maximise productivity.

A key characteristic of this fluid is extremely low foam generation, making it particularly suited to high-flow grinding applications, as found in the production of camshafts and crankshafts for agricultural and commercial vehicles (www.masterfluidsolutions.com).

The new fluid is designed to combine the superior cooling and chip-setting characteristics of a premium synthetic product with the mechanical lubricity of a semi-synthetic.

Both ferrous and exotic steel alloys can be machined with Trim C274, which also protects machine and tool surfaces while preventing sticky residues on machine ways, chucks, tool-holders and fixtures.

Moreover, Trim C274 requires no additives to control the growth of bacteria — a benefit that became clear to a European manufacturer of crankshafts during initial product trials.

The customer used the product in a large central system and was able to confirm that there was no deterioration in bio-stability — even after one year.
