Switzerland-based GF Automotive (a division of GF) (
www.georgfischer.com) has acquired Eucasting Ro Srl, a high-pressure aluminium die-casting specialist with two production sites in Romania.
This is part of GF Automotive’s strategy to expand its presence in the growing light metal components segment.
Eucasting was founded in 1960 in Italy by the Mapelli family. In 2006, the company started its expansion into Romania with a die-casting foundry in Pitesti (100km west of Bucharest). Based on a strong customer demand for aluminium castings, a second plant in Scornicesti (around 50km south of Pitesti) was opened in 2010.
With a workforce of about 500, Eucasting has a turnover of about CHF50 million. Some 60% of its sales are achieved in the automotive segment. Closing of the acquisition is anticipated for November 2017, with both parties agreeing not to disclose any financial details.
GF Automotive is a development partner and manufacturer of components for passenger cars, trucks and industrial applications. The division provides casting solutions based on iron, aluminium and magnesium at 11 production plants in Germany, Austria, China and the USA.
