Launched in the UK by Yeovil-based YMT Ltd is the Deuce range of vices — manufactured in the USA by 5th Axis (www.ymtltd.co.uk).

These vices feature established dovetail technology, which is known for its secure clamping capabilities on as little as 1.5mm of material.

The Deuce vice comes in two sizes: the DV56, which has clamping capacities up to 152mm; and the DV510, which has a 254mm capacity.

Both offer clamping forces up to 1,800kg and have a jaw length of 127mm. A knurled screw quickly closes the vice, ready for final tightening with a torque wrench.

When fitted with a removable centre jaw, the vices can clamp four components simultaneously.

Furthermore, the quick-change jaws can be changed without dismantling the vice. Jaws can also be reversed for extra capacity, while options include double-station soft jaws.

According to YMT, quick-change accessories make it possible to remove and replace vices in seconds.

Furthermore, multiple vices can be quickly and easily located on the machine table — or on a tombstone fixture — to maximise machine capacity.
