Among the 13 machines being shown by Hyundai-Wia at the EMO 2017 exhibition in Hannover (18-23 September), nine will be new models.

These will include new Y-axis turning centres, two new vertical machining centres (one a five-axis type), a new high-speed (60m/min) horizontal machining centre, and the multi-tasking KM2600MTTA turning centre.

The new XF-series five-axis VMC will initially be available in two versions: the 40,000rev/min XF2000 (with a work envelope of 300 x 300 x 200mm, rapid-traverse rates of 50m/min and a 200mm-diameter) and the 15,000-40,000rev/min XF6300 (with a work envelope of 650 x 600 x 500, rapids of 60m/min and a 630mm-diameter table).

The two new KF-series VMCs are the KF4600 and the KF5600. The former has a work envelope of 900 x 460 x 520mm, 36m/min rapids and spindle power options from 8kW to 15kW.

The KF5600 has a work envelope of 1,100 x 560 x 520mm and spindle power options from 8kW to 20 kW.

The new XH6300 high-speed HMC has twin 630mm square pallets (each able to take 1,500kg workpieces), plus axis travels of 1,050, 900 and 1,000mm in X, Y and Z.

Automatic tool-change options extend from 40 (as standard) up to 348. The three new Y-axis turning centres are the L2000, 3000LY and the heavy-duty KL7000LY; the last has a 185mm-diameter spindle bore, a 1,200mm swing over the bed and a maximum turning length of 3,250mm.
