Network Rail is looking for six new apprentices in Norfolk and Suffolk for its award-winning engineering apprenticeship scheme; they will start in March next year and will have the opportunity to work on the ambitious Railway Upgrade Plan (
www.networkrail.co.uk).
There are vacancies at depots in Norwich and Ipswich, for either track or signalling roles.
The scheme is open to applications until Friday 22 September, and apprentices are guaranteed a job upon completion of the three-year course (more than four in five of those who started on the scheme a decade ago are still working for the organisation today).
For example, David Woodard works in depots in Norwich and Colchester; he finished his apprenticeship last year in Ipswich.
He now works as an electrical technician and has been covering the team leader’s role since the beginning of the year.
