Thales (

Under the planning of the New Taipei City Department of Rapid Transit Systems, the Ankeng LRT project is part of the transportation expansion plan for the Greater Taipei region that aims to reduce travelling time between regions and alleviate traffic volumes within the metropolitan area.
This is the third win for Thales in Taiwan following successful LRT contracts for Danhai and Kaohsiung.
Awarded by the China Steel Corporation, the contract involves the, design, manufacture and delivery of signalling, automatic vehicle localisation, priority management at road crossings, passenger and security services, communications technology and OCC (operation control centre) systems.
The Ankeng LRT will be one of the new lines connecting passengers coming from other districts/regions within Taipei to the Greater Taipei metro network.
According to the schedule, the line will enter service in early 2022.
Benoit Couture, Thales vice president in charge of integrated communications and supervision systems, said: “We want to continue being recognised as a trusted partner to Taiwan’s transportation authorities as they work towards developing a robust network serving the needs of a growing population.”
