Vericut offers MachiningCloud enhancementsHove-based CGTech Ltd (www.cgtech.co.uk) has announced that users of Vericut software can now import cutting-tool parameters from within MachiningCloud.

Vericut CNC machine simulation, verification and optimisation software detects CNC programming errors, as well as potential collisions, from the same NC code that drives the machine tool; MachiningCloud is a product data provider for cutting tools, CNC machines and work-holding equipment.

After defining a tooling package on MachiningCloud and downloading all the tool assemblies into Vericut, customers can now obtain the cutting parameters of the tool to verify that it has been programmed correctly.

The process begins with building a MachiningCloud job containing the required tool assemblies. Users then export the job and download it to a local computer.

From within Vericut, users simply click once to import all the tools from the job. In this step, 3-D geometry representing the cutting-tool assembly is imported into Vericut, along with the cutting parameters for that tool.

Lastly, tool simulation can be performed using the tool assemblies just created in MachiningCloud.

Jeff Voegele, Vericut product specialist, said: “The importing of the tool’s cutting parameters with the 3-D tool geometry into Vericut will allow the user to take advantage of other verification checks that our software offers to further improve their programs.

“For instance, these tool cutting parameters can also be used in Vericut’s Force and OptiPath modules to better optimise the CNC program.”
