Cleckheaton-based Westley Group (
www.westleygroup.co.uk), a leading supplier of castings in heat-, wear- and corrosion-resistant alloys, acquired J Roberts Bronze Components earlier this year.
It has now relocated the combined business of Francis W Birkett and Walter Frank to the JRBC site and is now planning to build an extension.
A spokesman said: “Our strategic acquisition of the J Roberts Bronze Components business provides a manufacturing footprint that is perfect for combining the three businesses, with one joint manufacturing platform.
"The layout of the site is more readily suited to the lean principles that we are continuously introducing to the business, and the new site will enable us to further invest in infrastructure and machinery for the future.”
When JRBC was acquired, the group said: “J Roberts is a machine shop specialising in copper-based allows, which complements our existing machining and assembly portfolio and will be consolidated into our existing operations.”
Following the acquisition, a planning application was submitted to Kirklees Council for an extension to the warehousing facilities, plus more car parking spaces. If it gets the ‘green light’, the extension will have a floor area of 296m
2 and will create an additional 15 jobs.
