Cambridge-based Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group (
www.marshalladg.com) has announced that up to 300 jobs (out of 1,900) could go, in a move to make the company “modern, flexible and affordable”.
The company was recently awarded a £13.5 million defence contract, and it recently completed a £20 million upgrade at Cambridge Airport.
Unite Union officer Richard Peters said that the news was “very disappointing” and he was seeking urgent negotiations.
In a statement, Marshall said it was “building a simpler business operating model”. The company believes its plans will “ensure that Marshall ADG becomes a stronger competitor and partner — in the UK and abroad”.
