MHI Vestas (www.mhivestasoffshore.com) has been selected as the preferred turbine supplier for the 950MW Moray 1 offshore wind farm in the Outer Moray Firth (off the east coast of Scotland).

It will supply and install 100 V164-9.5MW turbines. Moray 1 project director Oscar Diaz said: “Co-operation with MHI Vestas — to couple the latest turbine technology with advances in engineering and project deployment — has enabled us to achieve major reductions in the cost of offshore wind.”

Moray 1 is a joint development between EDP Renewables (77%) and Engie (23%); it was recently awarded a Contract for Difference at £57.50 in the UK’s second auction round.
