Coventry-based Marposs (www.marposs.com) has extended its range of portable measurement equipment with the introduction of a new hand-held precision bore gauge suitable for dimensional inspection on the shopfloor.

With an integral 1.8in TFT colour display and Bluetooth communication to SPC or data terminal, the new i-Wave2 wireless handle with automatic orientation allows the operator to see the measurement value from any direction.

Any mechanical gauge head with an M10, M6 or M3.5 thread can be quickly mounted by means of an adapter to convert the handle to a plug, snap or depth gauge.

Users can choose between two systems — Direct-Lock or Star-Lock for frequent gauge head change-overs. Live measurement with a 10m communication range is simultaneously displayed on the handle and the gauge computer via Bluetooth.

By pressing one of the two buttons, the value is automatically saved in the computer for statistical purposes, or the gauge can be operated in stand-alone mode.

The i-Wave2 features a long-life fast-recharging Li-ion battery, and is supplied with an inductive charging stand for round-the-clock operation.

Furthermore, an IP67 protection rating allows the handle to be used in severe shopfloor environments. Communication software developed by Marposs gives users the opportunity to connect the i-Wave2 to any commercial or industrial computer.
