Icon Plastics (www.iconplastics.com) is set to expand its manufacturing output with the construction of a new 10,000ft² facility a ‘stone’s throw’ away from its current base in Eaglescliffe.

Established for over 15 years, the company supplies plastic moulded components and assemblies to the automotive, electronics, agricultural, health-care, construction and defence sectors.

Managing director Gareth Thomas said: “We are seeing positive growth in the business, and we are very confident about the expansion.

"We have about two acres of space at our current site, but it was beginning to feel cramped, with
the very real prospect of having to walk away from further contracts.

“The new site will remove such fears, giving us space to expand our operation, take on new clients and strengthen the company’s position in the market, as we look to grow the business into the future.”

Icon currently has 60 full-time staff; it intends to create more full-time jobs and apprentice positions, as it grows.
