CGTech expands its technical support

CGTech expands its technical support As part of its continued growth in the UK and globally, Hove-based CGTech Ltd (www.cgtech.co.uk) has taken on Dave Woolams as a technical support engineer.

A time-served apprentice with significant CNC machining experience, he started his career with a small precision engineering business in the South West.

Mr Woolams says: “As well as general engineering, we did a lot of engine building and machining.

The latter included work for a local performance-car garage, for which we did any machining required.

“It was a great learning curve for me — everything to do with maximising engine performance, while getting the best out of our machines and working to microns.”

After completing his apprenticeship, Mr Woolams stayed with the business for about 10 years before joining Renishaw; he worked as a CNC setter operator in a turning cell at the company’s manufacturing facility in Stonehouse, before progressing to the company’s RAMTIC automated milling and turning section.

His next move was to prototyping and low-volume production, where he used GibbsCAM as the programming tool.

His last role at Renishaw was that of a CAM development engineer.

Mr Woolams joins CGTech having been a regular user of the company’s software at Renishaw.

“Having first-hand experience of Vericut and the exceptional level of technical support delivered by CGTech, I know what is expected of me in my new role, and I am looking forward to making a significant contribution to the Technical Support team.”
