Dutch firm in joint venture with Nova WindDutch turbine manufacturer Lagerwey and Russian company Nova Wind (www.novares.com.tr) have set up a joint venture (JV) called Red Wind, to supply wind turbines to the Russian market. Nova Wind deputy director general Emin Askerov has been appointed chief executive of Red Wind, with Sjoerd Sieburgh Sjoerdsma appointed managing director.

This builds on a licensing agreement signed in June between the parties. Red Wind will be responsible for the marketing, sales and delivery of wind turbines, plus after-sales support; it will also work with Nova Wind’s productions sites in Volgodonsk.

Red Wind has a current production programme for 388 turbines to be delivered through to 2022. Lagerwey will provide components for the first 60 of these; it will also contribute technology and expertise for 2.5MW and 4.5MW machines — and assist Red Wind in training personnel to manufacture hardware and build wind farms.

Lagerwey chief executive Huib Morelisse said: “This joint venture is a logical continuation of our joint effort building a solid and technologically advanced Russian wind industry.”

Nova Wind is the new energy business unit of Russian nuclear giant Rosatom.
