Customers, distributors and employees celebrated a significant milestone for Perkins (
www.perkins.com) in Latin America, as the 250,000th engine came off the production line in Curitiba, Brazil — some 14 years after it opened to produce Perkins 1100 Series engines for off-highway applications in Brazil and the rest of Latin America.
More than 50 guests took part in the celebration, which was also attended by Perkins distributors and many of the group’s agricultural, electric power and construction customers.
Vanda Camargo, Perkins general sales manager for South America, said: “We truly value the partnerships we have with every one of our customers; this 250,000th-engine celebration would not be possible without their continued support.”
Engines are produced using the Caterpillar Production System established in all Perkins manufacturing operations, ensuring that the same efficient processes and stringent quality controls are implemented at every global facility.
Production processes feature ‘state of the art’ computerised and robotic technology for machining, assembly, test and painting.
