The latest release of VISI CAD/CAM from Gloucester-based Vero Software introduces a new mould tool module that provides greater flexibility when constructing supplier and non-standard tool configurations (

Customisable templates, along with the management of blank and pre-drilled plates, are said to allow for the easy creation of tool layouts and enhanced editing at any stage of the design process.
All assembly parts are automatically updated when plate adjustments are made, including component cavity manufacturing data.
In VISI 2018 R1, the ability to create project design and technical manufacturing reports has been included within the system’s snapshot manager, using data captured throughout the CAD and CAM project stages.
CAM developments include ‘faster geometry preparation’, plus an enhanced 2.5-axis chamfering strategy that provides updates such as ‘intelligent’ approach and retract points, advanced obstacle management, and significant speed improvements.
For 3-D water-line milling, new adaptive step-down capabilities can manage variable Z steps for each independent area within the same workpiece being machined, while a new VISI-to-PC-DMIS interface has been introduced — primarily because “sharing process knowledge is key to tracking the digital thread throughout the entire manufacturing process,” according to Vero.
