LAI International Inc (www.laico.com) — a provider of manufacturing solutions to the aerospace, military, energy and medical industries — is opening a new 39,410ft² factory at its headquarters in Tempe, Arizona.

This ‘state of the art’ facility will work on a next-generation engine programme for the commercial aerospace industry; it will focus on electrical discharge machining (EDM) and also house co-ordinate measuring machines.


The Tempe location is already home to a world-class additive-manufacturing and water-jet cutting facility. The need for additional factory space stems from long-term contracts with some of the aerospace industry’s top manufacturers.

With this latest expansion, LAI will have more than 260,000ft² of manufacturing space at its nationwide locations, including Tempe (Arizona), Green Island (New York), Scarborough (Maine), and Westminster (Maryland).

Its manufacturing capabilities include additive manufacturing, water-jet and laser cutting, EDM, CNC machining, welding and fabrication.
