Kingswinford-based RP Technologies has purchased two additional Hurco CNC machining centres, a custom-built hot-plate welding machine and a mould simulation analysis software package — and recruited new people.
This will increase the capacity and productivity of its facility, along with the range of services that the company can offer. The newly installed machining centres are a Hurco VMX30i and a larger VMX64i, which has a table size of 1,676 x 889mm (

In the past year, RP has seen a surge in demand from its automotive customers; as the industry pushes to develop more electric vehicles, the need for battery-cooling systems has ‘gone through the roof’.
This has given the company plenty of experience manufacturing tooling and welding expansion tanks for OEM and Tier One customers.
With its custom-built hot-plate welding machine, it now has greater control over the welding process and can provide high-quality welded components to customer specifications.
Meanwhile, a new software package with mould simulation analysis allows RP to gain product insights, visualise flow and thermal properties and optimise processes before any physical parts are made.
This helps to reduce development costs and manufacturing time by eliminating potential issues before manufacture begins.
