Renishaw plc — the global company with core skills in measurement, motion control, health-care, spectroscopy and manufacturing — has announced that Sir David McMurtry handed over his chief executive responsibilities to William Lee on 1 February, but he will remain executive chairman, with responsibility for group innovation and product strategy.
Mr Lee joined Renishaw (
www.renishaw.com) in 1996, starting his career in new-product research; he subsequently headed up the laser and calibration product line, as well as the machine tool product line, before becoming group sales and marketing director in 2016.
He has a degree in Physics from Oxford University and an MBA from Bath University.
Sir David said: “I am delighted that Will has demonstrated to me the leadership capabilities to continue to develop
the Renishaw business; as a result, I am pleased to hand over my role as chief executive.
“I am confident that Will can inspire the next generation to build on Renishaw’s heritage and we are looking forward to working closely together.”
