The Modular Mini Mill from Norwich-based Haas Automation Ltd (
www.haas.co.uk) has been designed to provide an economic solution for small-parts machining at start-up businesses, those needing a ‘second-op’ machine, or manufacturers looking to release existing machine capacity.
This 40-taper machine offers a work envelope of 406 x 305 x 254mm, a 10-tool ATC as standard, and a 2m-square footprint.
Optional modules can be added for extra flexibility. For example, the coolant module is designed to prolong tool life, aid swarf clearance and achieve better surface finishes, while the production module features a faster spindle and increased rapid rates.
The high-productivity software module adds macros, spindle orientation, Wi-Fi, rigid tapping, visual programming, co-ordinate rotation and scaling, while the four-axis module accommodates a rotary table or indexer.
A 7.5hp direct-drive spindle provides speeds up to 4,000rev/min as standard (6,000 and 10,000rev/min are options).
Cutting feed rates are up to 6.35m/min (12.7m/min is an option), with rapids of 7.6m/min (15.2m/min is an option).
