Rotherham-based contract manufacturing specialist MTL Advanced (www.www.mtladv.com) has invested in a 6 x 2.5m 6kW Trumpf fibre laser that is suitable for the fast cutting of thin material, enabling MTL to be competitive on large-volume production contracts.

The new machine comes equipped with a LoadMaster automatic sheet-loading system, which improves its productivity.

MTL Advanced director Karl Stewart said: “Investing in the latest manufacturing equipment allows the business to remain competitive and enjoy sustained growth.

“Our recent investments, which now total £8.5 million over the last 18 months, allow the business to provide a complete service to customers and the markets we serve.”

Operating from a 300,000ft² factory on a 13-hectare site with 300 employees, MTL Advanced is part of the WEC Group Ltd, which is one of the largest engineering and fabrication companies in the UK, with over 900 staff at sites in Lancashire, Merseyside, Yorkshire and the West Midlands.
