PP launches videos on the benefits of outsourcingWalsall-based PP Control & Automation has launched three new videos designed to debate the benefits of strategic outsourcing (www.www.ppcanda.com).

The company, which supplies electrical control systems, cable harnesses and sub-contract manufacturing solutions to many of the world’s largest machinery builders, talks potential customers through the process and how it can help them increase capacity, reduce lead times and mitigate the risk of fluctuating sales.

Videos are between 90 and 150 seconds long and are available via the company’s website and through its social media channels, with the first one focusing on ‘unlocking your growth potential’, while the second one asks the question ’are you losing orders because you’re too busy?’

Tony Hague, managing director, said: “We have spent a lot of time and effort in exploring how we can target new markets and the techniques we can use to reach them.”

“One of the key areas we have focused on was digital media and generating new video content to promote across our website and social media channels was an integral part of this approach.”

He added: “It seems to be paying off too. The first video has already enjoyed 2,500 views and really brought the topic of strategic outsourcing to the fore.

“A lot of machine builders are extremely busy with strong order books. Their current issues surround capacity constraints and increasing production and sales lead-times, which in turn can result in lost orders.

“Strategic outsourcing solutions that we offer can greatly assist in redesigning their supply chain and operational strategies and provide significant improvements without the cost and risks associated with significant additional recruitment, capex and new buildings.”

The third video (below) introduces how PP Control & Automation has worked with Ishida Europe, a world leader in the design, manufacture and installation of weighing, inspection and packaging lines, to increase its capacity and sales.

John Priest, operations director, explained: “We first started purchasing electrical harnesses from PP, a relatively simple and transactional supplier relationship.

“This progressed rapidly and the company is now one of our top strategic partners, responsible for the base machine build of our CCW multi-head food weighers, including building and fitting all associated controls.”

He concluded: “By adopting strategic outsourcing, we have increased our production capacity and lifted any constraints to growth. It means we can remain agile to fluctuating manufacturing demands, whilst also providing best in class lead times to our customers.”

PP Control & Automation turned 50 last September and marked the occasion by securing £2 million of new contracts.

Located in a 55,000ft2 facility in Cheslyn Hay, the company enjoyed a major surge in demand for its strategic outsourcing services, with interest coming as far away as Iceland.
