Digitalisation boosts LantekSpanish multi-national Lantek (www.lanteksms.com) , which provides software systems to companies working with sheet metal, tubes and structural steel, saw its turnover increase by over 11% (to 17.6 million euros) in 2017.

It also increased its customer base by more than 2,000, and now has over 20,000 active customers in more than 100 countries.

These statistics highlight the strength of the company’s international business, which accounts for 86% of its revenue. Progress was particularly significant in China (+67%) and the USA (+47%).

Alberto Martínez, CEO, said: “2017 was a very positive year, and we reached most of the objectives we set.

“We have committed ourselves to developing advanced manufacturing solutions that connect machines, processes and factories
to facilitate the digital transformation process, which is so necessary for our customers today.

“All these Industry 4.0 developments are aimed at turning factories into smart factories and improving the technological and competitive positioning of our customers in their sectors.”

This firm commitment to develop technology for Industry 4.0 has made Lantek a pioneer in the digitalisation of companies in the sheet-metal sector.

It has allocated 1.8 million euros to R&D, implementation teams and project development in 2018, and it is opening a new technology centre with 10 engineers in Bilbao.

Lantek recruited 30 people in 2017, thereby increasing its staff levels to over 200 people — spread over 20 offices around the world.

The sectors in which the company has consolidated its global presence are industrial machinery, shipyards, automotive industry, duct parts, metal constructions, iron and steel industry, elevators, air conditioning, metallic furniture and distribution.

Mr Martinez concluded: “This year, we plan to launch several products focusing on advanced manufacturing that will consolidate our strategy as a driving force in the digital transformation of our sector and will help the sheet metal and fabrication market adapt to the new changes required by Industry 4.0.”
