Steel firm invests in new labelling technologyBromford Iron & Steel (www.bisteel.co.uk)— a leading producer of hot-rolled flats, sections and custom profiles — has announced the latest wave of improvements at its facility in West Bromwich. On the 70th anniversary of its incorporation, the steel specialist has invested over £12,000 in new labelling technology that offers bar-coding capabilities and customised printing on heat-resistant fabric labels to accelerate the movement and processing of finished bars and sections.

The company can now offer fabric labels which ensure that the right identification information travels with its products, resulting in faster processes at goods inwards for customers and complete traceability.

Part of the OSSL Group, Bromford Iron & Steel has undergone a major transformation since it was acquired in 2014. This latest investment is part of a decade-long commitment that has already seen the arrival of new apprentices, image-measuring technology and a new condition-monitoring system.

"Operations director Andrew Rich said: “We continue to invest to improve our offering to our customers. The ability to include bar codes on fabric labels will give our customers even more confidence in our products — and improve their productivity.”
