The Rebel 235ic series of portable multi-process welding machines has been introduced by Upshire-based Esab Group (UK) Ltd (
www.esab.co.uk).
MIG/MAG, TIG and MMA (on metal thicknesses from 0.8 to 9mm) can all be performed by the Rebel 235ic, which weighs just 24kg. With a 235A rated output at 40% duty cycle, this machine is said to have the best power-to-weight ratio in its category.
The Rebel 235ic covers the full range of 0.8mm solid wires in both short arc and spray-arc transfer. The system also handles 0.6 and 0.8mm solid wires for thin-gauge work and welds with 1.2mm solid wires, as well as 0.8 to 1.2mm self-shielded and gas-shielded cored wires.
In addition, the Rebel EMP 235ic handles MMA electrodes up to 4.0mm and offers TIG welding with Lift TIG ignition.
Esab says that the Rebel 235ic’s flux-cored capability will appeal to steel fabricators wanting to use products such as the company’s Dual Shield wires, which are designed to offer all-position capabilities, high deposition rates and good bead appearance, along with traditional gas-shielded cored-wire benefits.
The machine holds 200 or 300mm wire spools, features dual gas ports with
solenoid valves for TIG, and has multiple trolley options.
The single-phase Rebel 235 features Esab’s exclusive sMIG (smart MIG) technology, which enables users to begin MIG welding — with a stable arc — just by setting the metal type and thickness, plus the wire diameter.
A TFT/LCD colour display helps users access the operating instructions, the owner’s manual and a parts list; it also allows switching between two operating modes — basic mode to simplify operations and advanced mode for a full suite of professional-grade arc controls.
