Exhibiting at the show for the first time, Preston-based Nederman Ltd (
www.nederman.co.uk) will display a selection of equipment from its portfolio of oil-mist filtration, dust and fume extraction systems, as well as swarf collection and recycling technologies (Hall 17 Stand 482).
One machine on the stand will be the Filtac OMF2000 extraction unit for machine tools.
Designed for continuous operation on turning, milling and grinding machines, this will be connected to an oil-mist-generating ‘test-rig’ to demonstrate how effective the extraction unit is at removing and controlling airborne oil-mist particles.
It is acknowledged that there is a fundamental difference between oil mist and smoke.
Oil mist is comprised of liquid droplets generally up to 20µm in size, whereas high-speed machining can generate liquid smoke with droplets less than 1µm. To effectively capture these extremely small droplets, Nederman has developed its patent-pending FibreDrain technology.
Incorporated into the new line of Nederman Filtac OMF units, FibreDrain filters make it possible to capture even the smallest sub-micron droplets and drain them back to the process with maintained filtration efficiency.
According to the company, FibreDrain also extends filter life and reduces operating costs.
With six models in the OMF series, the modular range offers an airflow from 1,000 to 6,000m
3/hr with an inlet diameter from 150 to 400mm. The extent of this range makes the OMF series suitable for machine tools of all sizes.
Available as a free-standing vertical system that sits alongside the machine tool, or as a horizontal system for mounting on the machine, the OMF has the option of two or three filter stages, depending on the chosen model.
