Warwick-based Walter Ewag UK Ltd (www.walter-machines.com) has announced that the latest version of its Tool Studio software with integrated wizard technology includes an erosion function for two-in-one Helitronic tool-grinding/erosion machines.

After simply selecting the tool size and geometry, then the grinding wheel and electrode ‘package’, the system offers a simulation mode that allows parameters to be quickly and easily adjusted before tool production starts. This can be on Power Diamond, Diamond Evolution and Vision Diamond 400L machines.

The enhancements in Tool Studio version 3 contribute to faster tool production simulation, parameter changes and machine operation for the production of carbide as well as PCD tooling; they also embrace newly developed functionality for thread-milling cutters, pocket extensions and cut-off operations — plus the probing and alignment of asymmetrical flats.

Further new functions are included for side probing, plus in-process wheel and electrode measurement inside the machine.

In addition, Tool Studio 3 has a grinding wheel data interface for the Heliset tool-measuring machine; this allows it to measure wheels, then send that data to Tool Studio.
