UK debut for Kellenberger universal grinder

UK debut for Kellenberger universal grinder The UK debut of a new Kellenberger universal grinding machine — and a first MACH appearance for Okamoto Works under the representation of Leicester-based Jones and Shipman Hardinge Ltd (www.jonesshipman.com) — will be the highlights of the Hardinge Group stand (Hall H20 Stand 875).

Jones & Shipman represents the interests of all Hardinge grinding brands in the UK: Kellenberger, Hauser, Voumard, Tschudin and Usach — and now also Okamoto Works, for which it is the exclusive distributor in the UK.

The Kellenberger 100 has been configured so that it can be tailored to meet specific customer requirements.

Based on a modular design, this machine incorporates key elements of Kellenberger’s Vista and Vita model ranges, the Jones & Shipman Ultramat CNC and Ultragrind 1000 machines, and the Tschudin T25 — simplifying the assembly of 100-series machines and making it possible to optimise the price/performance ratio for purchasers.

The machine featured at the show will offer 1,000mm between centres and be equipped with a WeFlex automated load/unload system from Wenger AG (this is an option that can be fitted to any Kellenberger 100 derivative).

Also featured at the exhibition will be the latest version of the UK-built Suprema Easy cylindrical grinder. Although the machine at MACH will have a 1,000mm grinding capacity, a longer 1,500mm-capacity version is available.

The Suprema model has a universal wheel head with two external wheels and one internal wheel. The machine’s ??? is said to allow the rapid set-up of dressing and grinding cycles via Jones & Shipman’s ‘Easy’ graphical grinding software.

Other features of the Suprema include the latest Fanuc ‘power motor control’ with Fanuc digital drives and motors, Heidenhain 12.5nm scales on the vertical and cross feed axes, and increased diameters on both the left- and right-hand external wheels for the universal wheel-head configuration.

Also on the stand will be an Okamoto ACC-63SA surface grinder, which has a 600 x 300mm table, with both the table and cross feeds featuring double-V slideways.

Automatic grinding cycles and intuitive controls are included as standard. The specification can be upgraded further with additions such as an electro-magnetic chuck, a temperature-stabilised wheel head, an automated balancing system and a filter for the coolant system.
