In collaboration with Vicomtech, a ‘visual interaction and communications technologies centre foundation’, Malvern-based Lantek Systems Ltd (www.lanteksms.com) has launched BeroSim.

This is a 3-D simulation software system that allows the user to calculate (graphically and interactively) how heat sources affect sheet metal during laser or plasma cutting.

Simulating the effect of heat on sheet-metal cutting enables the selection of the best process and cutting order.

Moreover, by simulating the process using BeroSim, the effects of cutting do not need to be tested on the actual machine.

This results in savings in machine time, materials and energy, while simultaneously reducing the risk of breakdowns or workplace accidents.
