Milling cutters with diamond-tipped inserts

Milling cutters with diamond-tipped inserts Ringwood-based Horn Cutting Tools Ltd (www.phorn.co.uk) says the show will mark the UK launch of the company’s DA32 cutters, which feature diamond-tipped inserts for shoulder, face, plunge and circular milling (Hall 6 Stand 890).

A positive insert geometry ensures a smooth cut, minimising any stress exerted on the workpiece or tool.

As a result, long cutter life and virtually burr-free machining are assured, says Horn, particularly when processing long-chipping materials.

According to the company, a wide finishing radius creates a high standard of surface quality, even at elevated feed rates.

Furthermore, the coolant supply ensures targeted cooling of the cutting edges and the safe removal of chips from the working zone.

A special insert geometry for machining fibre-reinforced plastics combines with the hardness and wear-resistance of the CVD thick-film diamond coating.

Furthermore, the head and shank are made of quenched and tempered steel — and are TiN-coated. End mills in the DA32 system are available in diameters from 20 to 63mm and incorporate between two and six inserts.
