Latest turning grades for steel

Latest turning grades for steel MACH will give Princes Risborough-based Sumitomo Electric Hardmetal Ltd (www.sumitomotool.com) the platform to add two grades to its AC8000P series of Absotech Platinum CVD-coated turning grades for steel (Hall 20 Stand 888).

The AC8015P and AC8035P grades are said to give users high levels of stability through improved wear resistance, reduced crater damage, improved surface smoothness and ‘lower stress’ cutting due to a recently introduced (and patented) coating process.

The AC8000P series was initially launched with the AC8025P grade for general turning and light interrupted cutting; however, it has now been expanded to include AC8015P for more-continuous cutting cycles and AC8035P for heavy-duty and interrupted cutting.

AC8015P has been developed for higher-speed continuous cutting operations, and to give up to twice the resistance to crater wear due to chip adhesion than conventional grade inserts, while AC8035P has up to twice the fracture-resistance of traditional grades to withstand heavy interrupted cutting cycles.

A range of 10 chip-breaker styles can be supplied to suit a variety of applications.

Inserts are available for the AC8000P series in negative and positive diamond, square, triangular, round and trigon types.
