Axminster Tools & Machinery (
www.axminster.co.uk) has recently been listed in the top 100 e-commerce and ‘cross channel’ retailers, as detailed in the
Internet Retailing UK Top 500 report 2018 (IRUK), moving up two levels from the top 250 group where the company was placed in 2017.
The IRUK research team has looked in depth at the UK’s leading retailers, comparing and contrasting their capabilities to see where and how the best retailers excel.
The researchers took an analytical approach using a range of performance indicators, to understand what the best practices are, and how they can best be fostered and encouraged in other businesses.
Axminster attributes its latest result to committed Web, social media and digital content teams, along with strong
customer service and logistics teams (the company averaged 9.7 out of 10 on Trustpilot — an ‘on-line review community’).
Moreover, with eight stores across the UK, face-to-face retailing is also a key factor in the company’s success.
Managing director Alan Styles (pictured) said: “The results of this research are of great interest to us, being based on a set of criteria we’ve been focusing on and improved upon.
“We have a number of different customer types, including businesses and the hobby sector, so we have been focusing on providing information and videos on our Web site that will help customers find the optimum solutions.
“Moreover, our product expertise is communicated by our sales team via Webchat, by telephone, through our stores or by our field-based team.”
