Alstom to supply Coradia Lint trains to GermanyAlstom (www.alstom.com) has received two orders for 25 Coradia Lint regional trains for use in southern Germany.

DB Regio Bayern has placed a 93 million euro order for 20 trains, while Hohenzollerische Landesbahn AG (HzL) has ordered another five trains, worth 23 million euros.

All the Coradia Lint DMUs (diesel multiple units) will be manufactured at Alstom’s facility in Salzgitter, Germany.

The trains ordered by DB Regio will operate on the Dieselnetz Ulm network, and the first 15 will be delivered in the autumn of 2020; the five remaining trains will follow in 2022.

DB Regio has ordered two different types of trains that can easily be coupled for enhanced operational flexibility.

The five Coradia Lint 54s ordered by HzL for the Bodensee-gürtelbahn network in Baden-Württemberg are identical to the fleet ordered by HzL last year for the Ulmer Stern network and will be delivered — together with the main fleet — in June 2019.

The trains are all equipped with WLAN, an entertainment and passenger information system with static and dynamic information monitors and video surveillance to ensure high passenger safety.

Alstom’s Coradia Lint trains have been operating on more than 30 networks in Germany, Europe and Canada since 2000. More than 2,800 Coradia trains have been sold so far, and around 2,300 are currently in service.
