The rise of XYZ Machine Tools (
www.xyzmachinetools.com) as a leading supplier of machine tools in the UK continues, with the company’s 2017/18 financial year seeing record figures of almost £31 million for machines delivered to customers and invoiced (excluding export sales).
This represents an increase of 20% over the previous year for the UK.
Demand has continued to grow for the Devon-based company’s range of ProtoTrak-controlled mills and lathes; it also saw increased demand for its turning centres and machining centres — a move driven in part by a combination of technological changes and upgrades to these ranges.
Another factor in this growth was the arrival of XYZ’s first fully simultaneous gantry-style five-axis machining centre — the UMC-5X.
Managing director Nigel Atherton said: “This has been another amazing year for the business, both here in the UK and throughout Europe, where sales are also increasing.
“The addition of the UMC-5X has generated lots of interest; and with eight machines sold in the year, we are more than pleased with how it is being received.”
While the figures for machine sales are impressive, there is also a high level of optimism for 2018/19, as booked orders for the year just ended also broke the company’s records, with a 25% year-on-year increase.
