Mazak announces major 2018 apprentice intakeYamazaki Mazak UK (www.mazakeu.co.uk) has demonstrated its commitment to the next generation of engineers by taking on 18 new apprentices in 2018.

The new recruits will start working at Mazak’s European headquarters in Worcester in September, alongside the 48 apprentices who are currently training with Mazak.

Since 2011, the company has successfully trained 109 apprentices, and the September intake will take this figure to 127.

The new apprentices will be assigned to various departments, including production and business support.

Five apprentices will be undertaking machining-related roles, three will be working in the sheet metal department, six in mechanical roles, three will undergo electrical training and one will join Mazak’s Spindle Service
Centre.

All the programmes will combine college-based learning with the essential hands-on approach to training, and all the apprentices will complete an accredited apprenticeship pathway to Level 3.

In instances where students excel during their training, a further top-up to HNC/D level will be offered.

Dave Barnett, learning and development manager, said: “Here at Mazak, our apprenticeship programmes offer the flexibility to train a diverse workforce against nationally recognised qualifications.

"Our pledge of continued growth demonstrates our dedication to the next generation of UK manufacturing and we look forward to welcoming the new group of students.”
