Torus adopts multi-sensor metrology approachTelford-based Torus Group, a bespoke metrology specialist, is promising its customers ‘a more complete measurement solution’ thanks to an investment in industry-leading multi-sensor inspection technology.

The company has customers in the aerospace, medical and packaging industries, all of which demand accurate and quick results when it comes to measuring their manufactured components.

When a customer came forward with a metrology requirement that Torus could not readily resolve, it turned to OGP UK (www.ogpuk.com) and invested in a SmartScope CNC 500 multi-sensor measurement machine.

Dean Richardson, an inspection services engineer at Torus Group, said: “One of our long-standing customers had an issue with our previous equipment, because the lighting just wasn’t good enough to access a specific part feature.

“The OGP SmartScope was the perfect solution, offering the right balance between speed and lighting capabilities.

“We struggled with our previous equipment, because we would occasionally have to go back and re-set a part of the programme, but that’s not something we’ve ever had to do with the OGP.

“In a shopfloor scenario, it does the same programme day in, day out, without fail.”

OGP UK is part of the Carfulan Group, which provides a full range of complementary manufacturing technologies designed to help customers make better parts and streamline their business processes.
