Poland-based Indoorway (
www.insites40.com), a ‘smart building’ company with offices in Birmingham, has launched InSites 4.0 — a new set of tools that allows users to gather data on ‘movements’ in manufacturing or logistics sites to an accuracy of 20-30cm.
The company says this can help users to adapt and modernise their buildings, and to introduce more lean-management techniques.
The latest generation of Indoorway’s positioning system unlocks real-time and historical data relating to movement patterns within a building, which in turn gives important insights about the usage of machines and space — as well as the activity of certain teams and shifts.
InSites 4.0 uses new hardware called Tags and Hubs. Tags are ‘technically advanced’ devices that can be attached to any asset that needs to be tracked or handed over to employees; Hubs are installed on walls or ceilings to process the data.
The movement collected by this data is subsequently presented by an on-line ‘dashboard’.
Indoorway CEO Grzegorz Koblanski said: “The data that InSites 4.0 provides can be used to reduce maintenance costs by up to 40%, improve overall efficiencies by as much as 15%, and reduce the risk of dangerous incidents.”
