Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has announced that the Kent Renewable Energy (
www.kentrenewableltd.com) combined heat and power plant (CHP), with a capacity of 27MW, commenced operations last month.
Located in Sandwich, the plant produces ‘renewable’ heat and power that is delivered to nearby Discovery Park (a business and science park) and to local power consumers connected to energy provider UK Power Network’s grid.
Christina Grumstrup Sørensen, senior partner with CIP (
www.cipartners.dk), said: “After a 25-month construction period, this is the moment we have all been looking forward to.
“We are delighted to see renewable power and heat being generated and delivered to local customers, based on locally sourced wood.
“We have completed yet another successful biomass project ahead of time and within budget, in strong co-operation with local authorities and our business partners.”
