With high levels of mechanical lubricity and oil content, TRIM metal-working emulsion concentrates from Needham Market-based Master Fluid Solutions (
www.masterfluidsolutions.com) provide a comprehensive boundary layer between the tool and the material.
The latest addition to this rangeis said to introduce several more qualities. TRIM E806 is primarily designed for
machining the types of magnesium alloys typically found in aerospace and automotive manufacturing.
However, it has the lubricity and extreme-pressure performance that allows it to also be used on wrought aluminium and stainless steel, as well as tough-to-machine titanium and nickel-based alloys.
Moreover, TRIM E806 will not tarnish the most sensitive of magnesium alloys, even after long exposure times; and unlike a standard emulsion, which will split after a matter of days in the presence of magnesium salt build-up in the sump, this product remains impervious to splitting.
Another problem associated with machining magnesium when using standard metal-working fluids is the generation of hydrogen gas, which can compromise safety.
TRIM E806 has been formulated to virtually eliminate this risk; and while it performs well in high-speed machining applications, it can also be used for lower-speed operations such as broaching, reaming, deep-hole drilling, drilling and tapping.
Low foaming when undertaking high-pressure high-volume machining is another TRIM E806 characteristic.
In common with other products in the range, it also features a bio package that extends its service life without the need for tank-side biocides or fungicides; it is also free from boron, chlorine, formaldehyde releasers, phenolic compounds and sulphurised EP additives.
