Port Talbot-based R-Tech Materials has achieved Nadcap accreditation for the testing of non-metallic materials for the aerospace industry, which covers a range of mechanical tests on composite materials.
This accreditation is a requirement for entry into the safety-critical aerospace materials testing market; its assessors are industry specialists, applying the highest level of professional scrutiny to the test procedures and methods of approved laboratories.
They described R-Tech’s test procedures as some of the best they had seen. R-Tech has also been approved by UKAS for testing polymer and composite materials for many years, and it is recognised as a leading testing partner in the marine industry.
Supporting its testing services, R-Tech (

The company also has extensive experience of partnering in publicly and privately funded research and development contracts.
Managing director Tony Franks said: “We have invested in the latest testing equipment and software, and our well-qualified and experienced staff have worked hard to develop our testing capabilities to achieve this accreditation.
"We are delighted that this confirms our position as a significant player in the market for testing composite materials.”
"Composites manager Geraint Havard said: “The aerospace sector represents some 70% of the composites testing market.
"We are already speaking to aerospace clients about their requirements, and we expect to see significant growth in the next couple of years.”
