According to Steel Times International, Southern Steel Sheet Co Ltd (SSSC) has awarded Italian plant builder Tenova (
www.tenova.com) the contract to supply a third galvanising line for its Nhon Trach plant in Vietnam.
The latest contract is a direct result of work carried out at the plant in 2013, when Tenova built the Vietnamese steel maker’s galvanising line number two and a colour coating line.
SSSC is a joint venture between Vietnam Steel Corporation and two foreign partners — Sumitomo Corporation (Japan) and FIW Steel Snd Bhd (Malaysia).
On completion, the new automated line will be able to produce 150,000 tonnes a year of high-quality galvanised coils. Tenova’s CEO, Roberto Pancaldi, said: “SSSC Vietnam has been co-operating with Tenova since 2011, and this collaboration has led to successful projects.
"The high level of continuous service we have provided was paramount in SSSC’s decision to assign us a new contract.”
