Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has confirmed plans to open a technical engineering office in Hungary in early 2019. Engineers in Budapest will work alongside JLR’s supply chain in Europe to support the introduction of new vehicles into the company’s global manufacturing locations.

Nick Rogers, executive director of product engineering (www.landrover.com), said: “Hungary has a strong track record in automotive engineering.

"We have chosen it as the location for a new engineering office to enable close collaboration with our suppliers in central and eastern Europe.”

JLR’s engineering network currently has offices in the UK, the Republic of Ireland, China and North America.

Péter Szijjártó, Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said: “This announcement by JLR marks a new chapter in the Hungarian automotive industry, as we welcome a new premium OEM to our country.

"The decision of the UK’s largest automotive manufacturer to open a technical engineering office in Budapest re-affirms our foreign direct-investment strategy and — in particular — our specific focus on high-quality automotive-related growth.”
