Norwich-based Zapp Scooter Ltd (
www.zappscooter.com) recently unveiled its i300 fully electric high-performance scooter.
This is powered by two lightweight lithium-ion batteries and a maintenance-free air-cooled permanent-magnet electric motor that produces 587Nm of torque at the rear wheel. Weighing only 90kg, the i300 can accelerate from 0 to 30mph in less than 2.4sec.
The easy-to-carry batteries can be removed and plugged it into any household socket to recharge. The scooter also has rider-selectable ‘regenerative braking’, which sends energy to the batteries when the rider shuts the throttle.
Swin Chatsuwan, Zapp chief executive, said: “With air quality in cities worsening and our roads becoming increasingly congested, the world needs new alternatives for urban transport.
“With its revolutionary design, thrilling performance and clean power source, we believe the i300 is the urban mobility solution that people have been looking for.
“There are already electric scooters out there, so we only ever intended to bring something highly innovative and hugely desirable to the market; there is nothing like the Zapp i300.
“We are very proud of what we have created, and we think commuters will like it as well.”
